Inspiring victory of Kerala Handball Heroine Prajitha Chandran at Berlin Special Olympics

The 23-year-old with learning disabilities won a silver medal in handball at the Special Olympics World Games in Berlin as part of the Indian women's team

Admitted to a special school in Kalady at 15 to learn candle-making as a livelihood skill, Prajitha's remarkable talent in sports was soon discovered by her teachers. She was trained in handball and quickly rose up the ranks.

Prajitha credits her success to the support of her mother Sheela, who raised her alone after her father passed away 16 years ago. Her mother and brother encouraged her sports ambitions.
