A look at Cochin Shipyard’s growth as India’s defence partner

Incorporated in 1972, Cochin Shipyard is the largest public sector shipbuilding & repairing company with miniratna status

Now it has emerged as a forerunner in the sector with capacity to build & repair large vessels

It is the only yard in the country to perform dry dock repairs on the aircraft carriers INS Viraat and INS Vikramaditya

In July 2022, Cochin Shipyard scripted history, delivering country's first indigenously-made aircraft carrier INS Vikrant to Indian Navy

Recently, it signed a contract for building six Next Generation Missile Vessels for Indian Navy at a cost of ₹9805 crore

The yard is also constructing 8 Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Crafts for Indian Navy

CSL is currently on expansion mode investing a total of Rs. 2,800 Crore in infrastructure augmentation
