Kerala government is conducting a comprehensive infertility survey to understand the expense incurred by people for fertility treatment, psychological and social problems faced by couples experiencing infertility.
The first phase of the infertility survey conducted by Department of EconomicStatistics for year 2022-23 will be completed on December 15. The survey will also identify the institutions working in this field, the treatment facilities and the various problems faced by couples.
The survey is being done in the context of increase in number of people seeking infertility treatment. As per an official statement, the data of families who have undergone infertility treatment will also be collected. The survey also aims to compile a list of infertility clinics operating in the public and private sectors, services available from infertility clinics, assess gender inequality in infertility, educational qualification and financial security.
The survey will be conducted in 800 selected units in the state. The first phase of the survey will involve, the listing of infertility clinics on the basis of local government bodies and compiling a list of houses to identify couples seeking treatment.
