Police patrolling on busy streets of Kochi city will now be on hoverboards. Cochin Smart Mission Limited (CSML) has provided six hoverboards to Kochi city police to enable police personnel to conduct patrol of city’s busy thoroughfares on hoverboards. CSML has provided the hoverboards with the support of Canara Bank.
The hover boards are equipped with digital display, wireless remote control, LED lights, speed control system, bicycle light, charging system and it can go to maximum speed of upto 18 km per hour. A single charge will last up to seven hours and each hover board costs Rs 1.60 lakh. The police department has decided to introduce a hoverboard patrolling system in the city after a trial run a few months back turned out to be a huge success.
According to senior police officials, the hover boards will be allocated to four main police stations within the city limits. A team under Kochi City Police Commissioner will identify the spots where hoverboards patrolling will be implemented. As per the details, the city police have already listed Marine Drive and Fort Kochi beach as the priority area for hover board patrolling. The police department on its own has already finalised a proposal to procure nearly 50 hoverboards in the initial phase for police stations across the state.
