P Raji, 33, is a young entrepreneur from a remote village in Kasargod, Kerala and she is on a mission to sensitise women about the advantages of reusable organic cloth pad over other sanitary pads available in the market.
She knows that her task is not that easy as the market is ruled by major brands. But she is not ready to give up as it’s her personal experience that made her come up with the idea of manufacturing an organic sanitary cloth pad that is light on pocket and hygienically serves the purpose without causing any health issues.
“More than a business, it’s a social awareness mission. We have a good alternative to the sanitary pads available in the market,” Raji told “Open Digest”.
Raji, who runs a textile shop along with her husband Shanoj P, developed the organic sanitary cloth pad after she herself had to face a lot of skin issues using the other sanitary pads. “When I spoke to other women around, they were also facing the same issue. So we started looking for an alternative and developed this organic cloth pad which can be reused for two years,” she said. Apart from cloth pads for women, her small firm Triambaka Garments is also into manufacturing cloth diapers for children and the elderly under the brand name “TBK”.
She visits schools and organisations to conduct awareness on the advantages of the cloth pad which is totally environment friendly. “Almost all the local bodies are dissuading women from using normal sanitary pads as it’s hard to dispose of them and cause a lot of environmental pollution. When we have an option like a cloth pad, we should use it,” she added. Raji can be contacted at 9188695774.
