Akash Akhilesh from Pathanamthitta in Kerala is successfully building an innovative venture that aims to totally replace several plastic products from our life with eco-friendly products and that too in the most cost-effective manner.
From toothbrushes to water bottles and pens, this 20-year-old visionary has taken the business world by storm with his eco-friendly products made from bamboo.
Akash, who is in his third year of BSc in Agriculture at Parul University, Vadodara, Gujarat, established his venture “Greenloverstore” at the age of 17 when he became acutely aware of the environmental damage caused by certain plastic products that are part of our daily life.
Determined to make a difference, he created products like Bamboo Toothbrush, Neem Wooden Combs, Bamboo Cotton Buds, Newspaper Seed Pencil, and Bamboo Water Bottle that not only met consumer needs but also minimised harm to the planet.
It was during the Covid period in 2020 that Akash launched the venture Greenloverstore after realising that the bamboo toothbrush was not popular at that time in Kerala and he could enter the market by creating massive awareness about this sustainable and eco-friendly product.
“My main objective with this initiative has been to spread awareness among people that environmentally friendly products are not costly and they can be made affordable. There has been a wrong notion that environmental products come with a premium price tag. I dispelled this notion and made my products accessible to all,” Akash told “Open Digest”.
“Just look at the volume of plastic waste generated when people discard plastic toothbrushes and combs. This waste gets dumped in our water bodies. An environmentally sustainable project becomes successful only when it’s embraced by the masses and not limited to an exclusive group of people,” he said. His products have gained widespread acclaim for their quality, durability, and eco-friendliness, attracting a growing base of environmentally-conscious consumers.
Inspired by the tremendous support he has been receiving from people, Akash is now gearing up to launch eco-friendly clothing and skin care products. “With the support of my family and all my loyal customers, my venture has come a long way. I am now working to launch eco-friendly clothing and skin care products,” he said.
“The future belongs to those who prioritise sustainability, and it’s our responsibility to pave the way,” he added.
