A football academy is coming up in Kochi to attract young children to football and use the charm of the game to distance the children from the clutches of drug mafia. The academy being set up at West Kochi, a historically important tourist destination in Kerala, will provide world class training to children in the sport.
The initiative, spearheaded by K J Maxy MLA, is part of the state government’s anti-drug abuse campaign that aims to distance children from drug abuse through arts and sports activities.
The academy named “Queen of Arabian Sea Football Academy” will provide training for children above 10 years of age, residing in Kochi Constituency. The academy will engage football coaches who have proved proficiency in the game at the national level.
The training will be held every day between 6 AM to 7.30 AM at Cochin College ground. The training camp will begin from the first week of December. The project will be funded through sponsorships and CSR initiatives of various organisations. Those who wish to join the academy shall register on or before 30th November 2022.
