Five women from Ernakulam in Kerala have come together to launch a unique venture, Dream Light LED Clinic, that not only solves e-waste menace but also helps people save money. They request people not to throw away damaged LED bulbs but bring it to their clinic to light it again as bright as new.

Apart from repairing damaged LED bulbs at a nominal cost as low as Rs 20, the LED Clinic near Kanjiramattom Railway Station at Edakkattuvayal also makes new LED bulbs and tubes.

Anitha Pramod, Deepa Babu, Radha Venugopal, Soumya Ratheesh and Pramila Girish have launched the LED Clinic as an entrepreneurial venture so that they can build a career and do good for the society.

While they charge Rs 20 for repairing damaged LED bulbs, new LED bulbs and tubes with one year warranty are sold at Rs 100 and Rs 200 respectively. “We are getting positive responses from the people. As we also repair and make serial LED lights, we received a good number of orders during the New Year and Christmas,” said Anitha Pramod.

The five launched the clinic after completing a training programme in LED manufacturing organized by Edakkattuvayal Panchayat. They availed an entrepreneurial loan from Kudumbashree CDS for the clinic.
