Vlogging may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but an IAS officer in Kerala has taken this route to change the long-held perception that the state is not industry-friendly.
Mir Mohammed Ali, Managing Director of the Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC), has launched a podcast series where he directly interacts with successful entrepreneurs who have built thriving businesses within the state.
The initiative is part of KSIDC’s broader mission to attract new investments and highlight Kerala’s potential as a hub for innovation, startups, and sustainable industries. By giving a platform to business leaders who have navigated challenges and succeeded, the podcast seeks to narrate real success stories that often remain overshadowed by negative perceptions.
“Kerala is leading the country in Ease of Doing Business reforms. Sadly, a large section of the people of the state too are unaware of the robust industrial sector here. The podcast is designed as a platform to hear the real story – experiences of people who have been running successful businesses for years and even decades,” Mir Mohammed Ali was quoted saying in an article published by “The New Indian Express.”
The podcast already featured a some highly successful entrepreneurs and KSIDC is planning to feature more entrepreneurs, industry leaders and innovators in the coming weeks.
In each episode, Mohammed Ali hosts candid conversations with entrepreneurs spanning sectors like IT, manufacturing, food processing, tourism, and green technology. They share insights on their journey, the support they received from Kerala’s ecosystem, and the unique advantages the state offers in terms of skilled manpower, connectivity, and government backing.
Beyond promoting industrial growth, the initiative also serves to build a positive narrative around Kerala’s changing business climate.
KSIDC hopes the effort will not only inspire local entrepreneurs but also attract national and international investors who might otherwise overlook Kerala. By combining governance with storytelling, Mohammed Ali’s experiment with vlogging reflects a fresh approach to public service communication — one that blends transparency, outreach, and digital innovation.
