The Pol-Blood App of Kerala Police, launched to provide timely blood to those in need during medical emergencies, continues to be a saviour with 18,638 people so far benefitting from the app since its launch in 2021.
As per the latest details, the app has so far enabled donation of 24,910 units of blood to 18,638 people. Currently, there are 41,520 registered blood donors with the Pol-Blood App, with the highest number of donors being registered from Thiruvananthapuram(9,157 donors). Kerala Police launched the Pol-Blood App as a citizen-centric service to connect blood donors and applicants.
“More people are downloading the apps and reaching out to Kerala Police seeking blood at the time of medical emergencies. The Pol Blood State Control Center at Peroorkada SAP Camp facilitates communication between donors and recipients. We make arrangements to provide blood to the needy by connecting blood recipients with donors in the same district or nearby areas through the app. We ensure timely delivery of blood to those in need,” said a senior police officer.
The app can be downloaded from the Play Store and the App Store, allowing users to register as blood donors or recipients. The app has two main sections: the blood donation section and the blood receiving section. Anyone can register as a donor by providing their blood group, contact number, and area of interest for blood donation. In the receiving section, applicants can submit their requirements by specifying their blood group, the number of units of blood required, hospital and blood bank details, date and time of blood requirement, and contact information.
The Pol-Blood App of Kerala Police is the first of its kind in India and is implemented in collaboration with Kerala State AIDS Control Society.
