Kerala is drawing up a huge project to promote agri-startups and enable these startups to provide employment to youngsters in the agriculture sector.
As per the details available, the project will be implemented by the Department of Cooperation by coming out with a Comprehensive Agricultural Development Plan (CADP). “The modalities for rolling out the CADP are being finalised and it will be implemented in a phased manner. The project is aimed at promoting startups in farming, supply chain and retail,” said officials who are working on the project.
Those youngsters who come forward to take up farming both small scale and large scale will be given necessary support under the project. The Department of Cooperation has decided to take up the CADP considering the option to offer necessary micro-finance support to the startups working in the agri-sector in the state. Meanwhile, the Kerala government in an official tweet confirmed about the decision to implement the CADP.
“The Co-operation dept through the Comprehensive Agricultural Development Plan (CADP) is providing opportunities to start-ups to provide employment to young professionals in the agriculture sector. The project will be implemented in 14 districts in a phased manner. It will first be implemented on an experimental basis in seven districts with an agricultural background. The districts will be selected in consultation with the agriculture section of the state planning board. This will be implemented by setting up production-clusters,” read the official statement.
