Francy Joshimon

Francy Joshimon,47, and her small venture Minnus Fresh Food at Karalam in Thrissur, Kerala are winning the hearts of the people in the United States by shipping chemical free health powder mix to cancer patients. Though her venture is only four years old, it has won the trust of thousands of families in the US by delivering quality health powder mixes made from jackfruit, millets, banana and tapioca.

What more her venture has also emerged as a support system for local farmers in Thrissur after she started to directly source their produce without any middle agents. Francy Joshimon, who never had any business background or management academic skills, decided to start her venture to make health powder mixes after her father was diagnosed with cancer in 2018.

“It was a shock to us because he only followed a healthy living habit. We realised that the cancer was caused because of the chemicals and pesticides in the food we consumed. It opened our eyes and we took up a mission to make pesticide and chemical free food. We started interacting with local farmers and found that only a couple of farm produce like jackfruit, banana, millets and tapoica are cultivated with out any chemical use. So we decided to make value-added health powders from it ensuing that they are totally chemical free,” Francy told “Open Digest“.

Francy took her idea to Kerala Agricultural University in Mannuthy where a team of officers provided her necessary training and support to dry the products and convert it to powder without losing the nutritional content.

“We also did our own research and blended the products with spices like turmeric. Our products got big acceptance among people because of its quality and benefits. Soon, we started receiving orders from abroad. Initially we started getting orders from UAE and now we get regular orders from customers in the US who are willing to pay high shipping charges just to get our products. Our health mix is much in demand in the US while we sell puttu powder, chips and rice powder in the domestic market,” she said.

Francy’s mission is to provide organic and chemical free food products to the people and support the local farmers. “We have been able to support over 100 local farmers by directly buying their produce. We are getting tremendous support from people who want local entrepreneurs like me to sustain and contribute to the society,” she added.
