KSEB will soon roll out a business opportunity for people in the state by helping to open electric vehicle charging stations at households and other premises.

The Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) has decided to enable public to set up state-of-the-art charging stations at offices and households considering the rising number of electric vehicles in the state. As per reports, the decision to utilise KSEB’s expertise in this field was taken at a recently held director board meeting.

According to the modalities being finalised by the KSEB, households with single phase connection may require a transformer for setting up the charging stations. For apartments, charging stations can be set up at the parking area with the help of a power extension. KSEB will provide all required facilities for setting up the charging stations.

The KSEB will ensure the quality of the equipment and design. The software for charging has already been provided by vehicle manufacturers. If required, KSEB will provide its own software KEMapp for the purpose. Also, there are plans for setting a rooftop solar power plant that suits the roofing design of houses. Those interested can contact KSEB Chief Engineer of the REES section (Renewable Energy and Energy Savings) at Pattom, Thiruvananthapuram. Landline: 0471- 2447404, 2514698, 2514562, 2514462.
