Door-to-door health checkup project of Kerala government using an app has helped nearly 50 lakh people in the state to identify life-style related diseases at an early stage in the last six months.
As per the latest data with the state health department, over 50 lakh people across the state were screened at their homes during the last six months as part of the “Alpam Shraddha Arogyam Urapp” campaign implemented by Health Department to detect lifestyle diseases.
The screening of people aged above 30 was carried out by health workers at home using an Android application designed by e-Health. Officials said the screening helped the health department to take follow-up measures and provide free diagnosis and treatment to those who need it.
An official statement of the department said out of the 50,01,896 people screened so far, 9,45,063 people are found to be in the risk factor group for serious disease and they were subjected to expert examination. While 5.38 lakh had hypertension, 4.36 lakh were diagnosed with diabetes and 1.87 lakh suspected both. Through the campaign, 3.22 lakh suspected cancer cases were detected and they were referred for treatment.
The department has also set up a Cancer Care Screening Dashboard portal to ensure follow-up diagnostics and treatment of people suspected to be at risk of cancer. Also, cancer grid mapping was done in all districts to ensure cancer treatment for all.
