This 60-year-old retired school teacher has a special connection with Valentine’s Day. On every February 14, she fondly remembers her father who named her Valentine Nimmi. She is one among the few people in Kerala who are named after St Valentine and on every Valentine’s Day, they become the toast of the world.
“I don’t know why my father named me Valentine. He was such a loving and caring human being. He loved the family close to the heart. Maybe he named me Valentine because of his love for the world. I am really happy to have this name,” Valentine Nimmi told “Open Digest”.
Valentine Nimmi, who retired from Infant Jesus Anglo-Indian Higher Secondary School at Tangasseri, Kollam as vice principal, still works as a teacher because of her love for the children and the profession. “I love spending time with my children who also love me very much. My father named me Valentine on purpose because I love my children and being a teacher,” she said. On every Valentine’s Day, her colleagues and children wish her on the occasion and she feels really happy.
“Everyone knows me for my name. My family just loves it and sends me special greetings on Valentine’s Day,” she said. Though she remembers her father who passed away when she was 12-years-old, every February 14 is another special occasion she remembers her father with love and admiration.
