More Keralites are embracing AYUSH for holistic healthcare, with a NITI Aayog report stating that there has been a significant increase in the number of patients visiting the AYUSH OP departments in Kerala. According to the latest review report by NITI Aayog, Kerala has made remarkable strides in the field of AYUSH, offering the highest number of services in the AYUSH OP category.
“Kerala leads the nation in the OP category for AYUSH services. There has been a significant increase in the number of patients visiting the AYUSH OP department on a daily basis,” said an official government statement. Officials said Kerala confirmed the achievement after a delegation from NITI Aayog visited AYUSH health and wellness centers to assess the situation and conducted a national-level review of the performance in the AYUSH sector.
“The review report says that, on average, 600 persons visited each AYUSH OP camp, which is the highest participation in the country,” said a senior official. Kerala also ranked first in the general preference of the people towards AYUSH medical services. According to the official statement, Kerala has ensured the availability of full-time yoga trainers and has not only increased their numbers compared to other states but has also expanded the number of beneficiaries and yoga sessions. The AYUSH wellness centers in the state excel in providing basic and sanitation facilities.
The government, in the last two years, allocated Rs 532.51 crore for the development of the AYUSH sector, marking a three-fold increase compared to previous years. Additionally, 116 new posts have been created to strengthen Ayurveda treatment, while 40 new posts of medical officers have been established in the Department of AYUSH.
