NIRF Ranking: University College makes Kerala proud

Campus violence and clashes between students come to the mind of Malayalees when they think of University College in Thiruvananthapuram. But the same University College has now made Kerala proud by coming in the list of top 100 colleges in the country in the NIRF ranking.

As per the 2023 National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), 14 colleges from Kerala have made it to the top 100 with Thiruvananthapuram University College leading the list from Kerala in the 26th position. An official statement released by Kerala government says that Kerala has excelled in national rankings for higher education institutions in the country.

The NIRF ranks universities, colleges, and research institutes in the country after analysing the parameters of teaching, learning and resources, research and professional practice, graduation outcomes, outreach and inclusivity and peer perception. In the list of best universities in the country, Kerala University ranked 24th, Mahatma Gandhi University 31st, Science and Technological University 37th and Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode 70th. In the list of best colleges in India, 14 colleges from Kerala have made it to the top 100.

The Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode has been ranked 3rd in the Best Management Institutions category while the National Institute of Technology, Kozhikode is ranked 75th.

The Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology has been ranked 10th in the best medical institutions category. Government Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram has become the first government medical college from Kerala to feature in the list at the 44th rank. Thiruvananthapuram Government Dental College is ranked 25th in the category of Dental Colleges.

The National Institute of Technology, Kozhikode, has been ranked 2nd, and the College of Engineering, Thiruvananthapuram, has been ranked 17th in the architectural institutions category. Thrissur Agricultural University has been ranked 15th, and Kufos 25th in the Agriculture and Allied Institutions category.
