If you think that a government agency cannot be as competitive as a private agency, then it’s high time to change the opinion. Operating in a highly demanding tourism sector where hundreds of major private players compete for a pie in the market, Kerala State Cooperative Tourism Federation (Tourfed) has made a profit of Rs 2.97 crore by running inland tourism packages.

Tourfed is a Kerala government agency having statewide operation under the control of Department of Co-operation. As per official details, Tourfed has decided to further expand its operations in the inland tourism sector by adding more different packages. “We aim to offer more affordable packages to the people. We provide an opportunity for everyone to visit the country at a low cost through domestic packages,” said the officials.

According to an official statement,  Tourfed, which is implementing projects responsibly in the tourism sector, will implement new projects utilising the new tourism potential of Kerala. The new packages will focus on the state’s backwaters, ethnic food, and culture. Tourism societies will play a key role in the new business model. Tourfed currently has around 60tour packages including domestic packages and overseas packages.
