As Kasaragod-based Institute of Applied Dermatology (IAD) is expanding its wings to offer holistic healing to Lymphatic Filariasis and Lymphedema patients across India, an in-house ayurvedic medicine manufacturing unit of IAD run by a team of women is behind delivering high quality medicines for the integrated treatment protocol.

The IAD has established the pulverising unit to manufacture top quality ayurvedic medicine for the treatment after sourcing the ayurvedic herbs from the farmers. The unit which has state-of-the-art milling machines adheres to strict quality testing and robust protocols for production of ayurvedic medicines. “We follow a scientifically-proven integrative treatment for Lymphedema and Lymphatic Filariasis. We use a lot of ayurvedic medicines for the treatment and our unit makes tailored ayurvedic powders maintaining standardised production quality,” said IAD Founder-Director Dr S R Narahari.

The manufacturing facility has notably employed local women, enabling local women empowerment. “We strictly adhere to highest quality norms. The powdered herbs are seaved and packed under strict hygiene circumstances for treatment purposes. Quality is paramount so patients benefit to fullest,” said IAD chief administrative officer M Bhaskaran. The medicines manufactured at the unit are shipped to Varanasi, Lucknow, Patna and Begusarai where the IAD is running treatment centres in association with Ministry of Ayush, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and respective state governments to offer free treatment to thousands of Lymphedema and Lymphatic Filariasis patients.

By locally sourcing ingredients, the institute not only supports environmental conservation but also guarantees the purity and authenticity of the Ayurvedic compounds. The institute’s pioneering efforts in healthcare through fusion of ancient healing traditions with modern medical science stands as a beacon of progress, showcasing the transformative potential of integrative medicine in addressing complex health challenges and inspiring a new era of patient centered care.
